On April 25, 2025, South Korea's Ministry of Strategy and Finance issued Decree No. 1125, announcing that it will continue to impose anti-dumping duties on oriented polypropylene films with a thickness exceeding 10 microns originating from China, Indonesia and Thailand for another five years. Among them, the tax rate for Chinese products ranges from 2.50% to 25.04%, which took effect immediately after the announcement.
South Korea first launched an anti-dumping investigation into polypropylene films from these three countries in January 2013, and officially imposed anti-dumping duties in December of the same year. The duties were extended once in 2019, and after a second sunset review in 2024, the South Korean government decided to extend them again. This move is intended to protect the local polypropylene film industry, but it will significantly increase the export costs of related enterprises in the three countries and reshape the global market layout of polypropylene films.
